Ahead of the release of 'Thalaivii', Kangana Ranaut paid a tribute to former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa's memorial in Chennai on Saturday morning. She also shared photos from her visit to Marina Beach in Chennai.
Decked in a regal orange and red saree, the actress completed her OOTD with a colourful pearl choker, a neat bun and gajra.
But Kangana's upcoming film, 'Thailaivii' has hit yet another roadblock. Three national multiplex chains have reportedly decided not to screen the film releasing in theatres on 10th September.
Kangana shared a message for the multiplex owners on her Instagram story, urging them to help each other during the testing times.
She wrote, no films are choosing theatres, very few and very brave people, like her producers Vishnu Induri and Shaailesh Singh are compromising on huge profits and letting go off exclusive streaming options only for the love of cinema.
Kangana went on to say, that in these times the industry must support each other and not bully or arm twist. She said it's a fundamental right to recover the cost of the film, yet multiplexes ganging up on her and stopping the release in south theatres. She called the move unfair and cruel in these testing times when major film markets like Maharashtra are also shut.
Reports say, the reason behind the multiplex owners refusing to take on the film, is because they insist on a minimum exclusive theatrical window of at least four weeks amid the Covid-19 outbreak.
‘Thalaivii’ is scheduled to hit the screens on September 10 and the makers have decided to premiere the Jayalalithaa biopic on a popular OTT platform two weeks after its theatrical release.
Currently, theatres are allowed to operate with 50% occupancy across the country, owing to the strict rules due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
