As an alternative to sanitary pads that use plastic, students of a government school in Telangana's Yadadri Bhuvanagiri district are making zero waste organic sanitary napkins.

Called the 'Stree Raksha Pads', these are made with hyacinth, fenugreek, neem leaves and turmeric among other thing.

As per the students, the pads available in the markets are made with petroleum chemicals and do not decompose easily.
