YouTube announces channel monetisation with only 500 followers

YouTube has reduced the requirements for content creators to access its monetisation tools.

The YouTube Partner Program (YPP) will allow access to shopping affiliate services for creators with 20,000 subscribers.

To join the YPP, creators will now need 500 subscribers, three public uploads within 90 days and either 3,000 hours of watch time in the past year or three million Shorts views over 90 days.

The previous minimum requirements were 1,000 subscribers and four thousand watch hours in the past year or ten million Shorts views over 90 days. 

YouTube plans to introduce the new requirements in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, South Korea, and Taiwan, with a later rollout planned for other countries where the YPP is available.
