At the WWDC 2023 event, Apple announced macOS Sonoma, the highly anticipated next major update for their Mac operating system.

The latest macOS update brings several exciting enhancements, starting with improved screensavers and updated widgets. Similar to the iPadOS update, macOS now offers enhanced widget interaction on your Mac.

You have the freedom to place widgets anywhere on your desktop, and they intelligently adjust their colour to blend seamlessly with the background when not in use.

A notable addition to macOS is the introduction of Game Mode, designed to optimise gaming performance on your Mac. This update also improves integration with AirPods, reducing audio latency for a better gaming audio experience. Furthermore, Metal 3 makes it easier for game developers to port their games to the Mac platform.

The Sonoma update also brings noteworthy enhancements to Safari. Private browsing is further enhanced by automatically locking pages that are not in use, providing additional protection against tracking.

The introduction of profiles allows you to separate tracking into distinct categories. Additionally, creating a web app for any website is now a simple process of adding it to your dock directly from the website.

Apple has confirmed that macOS Sonoma will be available to the general public later this year, with a public beta anticipated to be released by July.
