Instagram is testing a way to let you post your photos with a tall aspect ratio as a post.

Currently, you can post tall photos on Reels and stories, but if you try to upload one as a post, you'll find that the app will crop it for you to fit an 8:10 aspect ratio.

However, an Instagram official has confirmed that the app is currently testing photo posts as tall as 9:16.

In recent times, social networks have sought to replicate the success formula of TikTok. Those efforts led to the introduction of Reels on Instagram and Shorts on YouTube.

But. it looks like Meta's visual-first platform, in particular, wants to take things several steps further than just stimulating the creation of quick, looping videos.

9:16 photos would play better with Instagram's infamous full-screen interface recently tested. While the company did roll back the interface due to user criticism, it looks like the idea hasn't been scrapped entirely.
