HP has launched the ZBook Ultra G3a 16 in India, a new mobile workstation aimed at professionals working with AI, engineering, design, development and high-resolution content creation.
The standout pitch is local AI. Instead of depending entirely on cloud services, the ZBook Ultra G3a 16 is designed to let users run large language models and multi-agent AI workflows directly on the laptop. That could be useful for developers building AI tools, companies handling sensitive data, or creative professionals who need powerful processing while travelling.
The ZBook Ultra G3a 16 is powered by up to AMD Ryzen AI Max+ Pro 495 processors. HP says the machine can be configured with up to 192GB of unified memory, including up to 160GB of dedicated VRAM, alongside a 55 TOPS NPU.
According to HP, that is enough to support local large language models with up to 300 billion parameters. In simpler terms, it is meant for workloads that go well beyond everyday AI features such as image generation or text summaries. HP is positioning it for professionals who want to develop, test or use advanced AI agents without constantly sending workloads to a remote server.
Says Sanjeev Pathak, Senior Director at HP Solutions, HP India."As AI becomes integral to professional workflows, the need for technology that combines performance, mobility and intelligence is growing."
"The HP ZBook Ultra G3a 16” bridges this gap by bringing AI at the edge to a mobile workstation, enabling users to run advanced AI workloads and apply agentic AI to complex workflows," he added
Despite the heavyweight hardware, HP says the ZBook Ultra G3a 16 starts at around 1.9kg and measures 17.9mm thick. That is still substantial for a laptop, but considerably more manageable than many traditional mobile workstations.
HP claims a redesigned thermal system enables up to 100W of performance, allowing the device to sustain demanding workloads away from a desk. There is also a 96Wh battery, with HP claiming up to 14 hours of battery life. Real-world endurance will naturally depend on the kind of AI, rendering or engineering work being done.
For charging, the workstation supports HP’s 140W and 180W GaN USB-C adapters. The use of USB-C should make it easier to carry one charger across a workstation, phone and other accessories, although users will still need the larger adapter for peak performance.
The ZBook Ultra G3a 16 gets a 16-inch 2.8K OLED display with a 120Hz refresh rate. The panel should be particularly relevant for designers, video editors and other users who need sharp visuals, smooth motion and accurate colours.
HP has also included 5G connectivity, giving professionals an option to work securely when dependable Wi-Fi is unavailable. Other enterprise-focused additions include an IT-replaceable keyboard and HP Wolf Security, the company’s hardware and software security suite.
The HP ZBook Ultra G3a 16 is priced at ₹2,89,990, excluding taxes, and will be sold through HP’s commercial channel partners in India.
