Users who use apps downloaded from the Play Store to record their calls may soon have to look for alternative methods, as Google is set to ban this functionality. Call recording apps currently use the Accessibility API to record a user’s calls. However, Google’s recent changes to the Play Store Policy specifies that apps cannot use the Accessibility API for this purpose.
Google has been slowly deprecating call recording functionality through apps over the years, over concerns with privacy and the legality of call recording in different jurisdictions.

However, the change will not apply to pre-loaded system apps which offer call recording facilities. Thus, users of Samsung and Xiaomi phones, whose dialer apps offer this functionality, will be able to keep recording their calls.
