Google plans to expand its AI chatbot Bard to numerous countries and territories, but The European Union is still not on the list due to privacy concerns raised by the Irish Data Protection Commission.

The regulator for Google's Dublin-based EU operations requested a “data protection impact assessment,” based on EU privacy laws, with Google failing to provide the documents, forcing a delay in the Bard launch.

Privacy concerns continue to shadow the technology and lead to investigations in some EU countries. Other AI chatbots such as Bing AI and ChatGPT remain operational in the EU.
