YouTube has unveiled 'Aloud,' an AI-powered tool designed to automatically dub videos in different languages, allowing creators and viewers to overcome language barriers. The tool, developed under Google's Area 120 experimental projects, was officially announced during VidCon. 'Aloud' aims to simplify and expand the accessibility of dubbing by enabling creators to easily translate their videos into multiple languages. The process involves transcription, translation, and dubbing of the video in the desired language. Currently being tested with hundreds of creators worldwide, 'Aloud' initially supports a limited number of languages, including English, Spanish, and Portuguese, with plans to expand the language options in the future. While dubbed videos may appear out-of-sync and sound mechanical for now, YouTube plans to enhance the feature with creator-like voices and improved lip-syncing capabilities next year. This AI innovation promises to broaden the reach of creators and enhance the viewing experience for global audiences.
