Amazon has launched Amazon Air in India, a service that provides faster deliveries to metropolitan cities such as Hyderabad, Bengaluru, Delhi and Mumbai.
Amazon Air claims to be the first of its kind service by an e-commerce site in India and will help 1.1 million sellers grow their businesses. India is the first country in Asia where Amazon has launched this cargo service.
The initiative is said to further strengthen the country's air cargo infrastructure by creating more employment opportunities and making Hyderabad a cargo hub for the country.
The service will help customers get their packages faster and support sellers in transportation and packaging.
Amazon Air is operated by Quikjet Cargo Airlines and utilises the cargo capacity of a Boeing 737-800 aircraft.
Amazon Air was launched in the US in 2016 and now operates an air cargo network of more than 110 aircrafts worldwide.
