Pakistan's swashbuckling opener & wicketkeeper Mohd Rizwan struggled in an intensive care unit in a hospital in the UAE before the all-important semifinal clash at the T20 World Cup 2021 against Australia.

Former Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Akhtar revealed that Rizwan had a massive chest infection contrary to reports that he had mild flu. Akhtar also shared a photo of Rizwan in a hospital bed to prove his claim. Rizwan along with Shoaib Malik were reported to be unwell and were only cleared fit to play hours before the semifinal clash against Australia which they eventually lost.

Rizwan despite the illness was instrumental for Pakistan as he smashed 67 off 52 balls that pushed his team total to 176 for 4. Later, Pakistan's team doctor Najeeb Somroo also confirmed the news of Rizwan's hospitalisation.
