In a disgraceful incident, some fans vented out their anger of India losing to Pakistan in T20 World Cup 2021 on Mohammed Shami. The fast bowler who had a disappointing outing in the game, was sent hate messages.

In response to those abuses, Shami's India teammates and former cricketers hit out at the trolls. Irfan Pathan tweeted to say that even he was a part of India-Pakistan battles on the field but he was never told to go to Pakistan. Aakash Chopra wrote that online trolls are the ones who earlier used to burn effigies.

Yuzvendra Chahal and Harbhajan Singh also spoke out in support of Shami and said that they stand by him.
