Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy to begin in October, Ranji Trophy in January next year

The domestic cricket season in India will begin with the Under-19 boys one-day tournament, the Vinoo Mankad trophy, in September, the BCCI has announced. This will be followed by Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy which will take place from the third week of October and after that, the one-day Vijay Hazare tournament will begin in November.  

As per the new schedule, Ranji Trophy which was not played last year will return in January next year. Simultaneously the domestic Under-25 and women's games will also begin. There was no junior cricket last year due to the Covid scare. BCCI will also announce a five-member junior selection committee to select the team for the ICC Under-19 world cup.
