To support India in the battle against the coronavirus, Sweden plans to donate 1 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccines via the UN-backed COVAX.

The COVAX is an initiative devised to give countries access to coronavirus vaccines regardless of their wealth.

Sweden's vaccine coordinator Richard Bergstrom said there were enough spare vaccines that Swedes could give away and it will not have any impact on their vaccination drive.

Sweden currently is only administering AstraZeneca shots to people 65 and over.
