Wrestlers vs WFI: Supreme Court issues notice to Delhi Police, seeks status report

Supreme Court issued notice to Delhi Police and sought a status report on a plea by seven wrestlers. 

The wrestlers moved to the apex court to register an FIR against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh over the allegations of sexual harassment.

The bench headed by Chief Justice of India D Y Chandrachud said that serious allegations had been made, which are contained in the petition filed by international wrestlers, who have represented India with regard to sexual harassment, which has been meted out to them.

Additionally, the court opted against releasing the complainants' names to the public.

"For the purpose of these proceedings, the identity of the petitioners shall be redacted. Only the redacted part of the petition be made available in the public domain," the bench headed by CJI added. 

Senior Advocate Kapil Sibal appeared for the petitioners. The next hearing on the matter will take place on Friday (April 28).
