Wrestlers vs Federation: Sports Ministry suspends WFI assistant secretary

Amid the ongoing tussle between the Indian wrestlers and the Wrestling Federation of India, the Sports Ministry has now suspended WFI's assistant secretary Vinod Tomar. In a statement the ministry said, 'Tomar has been suspended with immediate effect, to ensure proper functioning of WFI'

Further, the ministry has also asked WFI to suspend all ongoing activities with immediate effect. For Tomar, the ministry said in a letter that his presence will be detrimental to the development of this high-priority discipline.

The aggrieved wrestlers had alleged that Tomar took bribes from athletes and was involved in financial corruption, helping him to build property worth crores.
