Wimbledon 2022 could see a complete ban on Russian & Belarusian players due to the war between Russia and Ukraine. The talks between Wimbledon officials and the UK Government regarding the participation of players from Russia and Belarus are underway and a decision could be made soon.

Athletes from these countries have been playing in ATP, WTA, and ITF tennis tournaments so far under a neutral flag with no anthem played.

Reports have suggested that Russian athletes could be banned in the fear that the victory of a Russian player may magnify Russian President Vladimir Putin's regime amid the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
