It wasn’t the fairytale ending everyone had hoped for but Roger Federer’s final game provided tennis fans with the chance to see their favourite star one last time.

Playing alongside his biggest rival and friend Rafael Nadal was bound to be an emotional experience, and it proved to be just that for the duo and their fans worldwide.

The tears were unstoppable at one time, not just for Roger Federer himself but even for Rafael Nadal, and for all those witnessing the goodbye, it brought in a whirlwind of emotions.

All it proved was there’s little doubt that Roger Federer continues to be the most popular tennis player on the planet.

He may have lost his final competitive tennis match at the Laver Cup, but he was still doing things we had never seen before. Like the point where he threaded a tiny gap in the net to send the ball over to the other side. It really left people shocked and in awe.

But alas, it’s Farewell, King Roger.

He bows out as one of the greatest, if not the greatest, of all time.
