Serbian superstar Novak Djokovic produced a masterclass as he defeated Alejandro Davidovich Fokina in the third round of the French Open.

The World No. 3 who is eyeing a record 23rd Grand Slam fought hard to take down the resilient Spaniard who was seeded 29th.

The 36-year-old overcame a neck-to-neck fight to seal a 7-6(4), 7-6(5), 6-2 victory after a 3-hour, 36-minute-long battle--the longest three-set Grand Slam match of the Serbian's long and distinguished career.

Djokovic will next face 13th seed Juan Pablo Varillas of Peru in the 4th round of Roland Garros.
