Budget 2022: Highest ever Sports Budget with 11% hike

With important events like the Commonwealth Games, Asian Games lined up this year, the sports budget for the fiscal year 2022-23 has been increased by Rs 300 crore, as per the Union Budget that was presented by the Finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.

The sports budget for 2021-22 was 2757.02 crore and with the big increment of 305.58 crore, the budget for this fiscal year will be 3062.60 which also makes it the biggest ever sports budget. 

The government has also allocated more funds to the National Youth Empowerment program and Khelo India. While last year Rs 108 crore was spent on the former this year 138 have been allocated. Last year Khelo India got 879 crore, this year the amount has increased to 879 crore.
