Asian Games 2023 Day 4: India shine in boxing but there was disappointment in Wushu and Chess on Sep 26

India had a good day in boxing, with both their pugilists qualifying for the next round. While Sachin reached pre-quarters in the 57kg category, Narender knocked his opponent out in the 92+kg event to qualify for the quarterfinals.

In Chess, India didn't have the best outing yet again. Arjun Erigasi drew his round 5 match against Javokhir Sindarov of Uzbekistan and then lost the next round against Bilgunn Sumiya of Mongolia. He finally finished his day with a victory against Novendra Priasmoro. Meanwhile, Vidit Gujarathi won his round 5 and 6 matches, he defeated Iran's Parham Maghsoudloo and followed it with a win over leader Nodirbek Abdusattorov. Vidit, however, unfortunately, went down in round 7 to China's Wei Yi.

In the women's event in round 5, Koneru Humpy defeated Nilufar Yakubbaeve and drew against Medina Turmunh of Mongolia. Harika Dronavalli beat Kim Thi Vo of Vietnam in round 5 and followed it up with a draw against Zhansaya Abdumalik of Kazakhstan. Both Humpy and Dronavally finished with draws in Round 7 as well.

In Squash, the men's team started well, beating Qatar and Singapore with identical scores of 3-0, the women's team also began with a 3-0 win against Pakistan in their pool.

In men's Volleyball, India lost to Pakistan 0-3 in the fifth-place playoff to finish in 6th position.

In Wushu, Surya Bhanu Pratap Singh lost to South Korea's Minsoo Kim in the quarterfinals of the men's 60kg event while
