India's 11-member wushu team left for China for the Asian Games 2023 without three players who hail from Arunachal Pradesh.

Nyeman Wangsu, Onilu Tega and Mapung Lamgu who though had the Hangzhou 2022 accreditation cards that act as visas reportedly did not get clearance to fly to China for the marquee event.

The three players who have now approached former Sports Minister Kiren Rijiju were supposed to participate in individual events of Wushu that will happen from September 24 to 28th.

In July India had withdrawn its Wushu participation from the World University Games that were being held in China after the nation issued stapled visas to the trio. Stapled visa means China does not recognise India's sovereignty over Arunachal Pradesh.
