In a major blow to the Gujarat Titans, star England opening batter Jason Roy has pulled out of the 2022 IPL. Roy has cited the challenge of staying in the tournament bubble for an extended period as the reason for his decision.

The 31-year-old was in sublime form and had a brilliant outing at the Pakistan Super League. Roy scored 303 runs at an average of over 50 for the Quetta Gladiators. He struck at 170.22 and smashed 2 fifties and a hundred.

Roy was expected to trigger a bidding war in the IPL 2022 mega auction but he was considered as the steal of the auction when the new IPL franchise from Gujarat bought the English power hitter for his base price of ₹2 crore.
