The Royal Challengers Bengaluru continued with their resurgence in IPL 2024 as they thrashed the Delhi Capitals by 47 runs to stay alive in the race for the playoffs.

Stand-in captain Axar Patel's decision to bowl first at the Chinnaswamy was the right call as DC got rid of dangerous RCB openers, Virat Kohli and Faf du Plessis early.

However, it was once again Rajat Patidar who steadied his side's innings with his 5th half-century in last 7 innings in the IPL. But Delhi didn't let the hosts launch in the death overs and restricted RCB to 187/9.

Delhi had a disastrous start to their run-chase as they found themselves wanting at 30/4. That's when Axar Patel brought his side back into the contest with a fighting 57 off 39 balls.

But the absence of Rishabh Pant, who was handed a one-match ban, hurt the Capitals as no other batter supported Axar. Delhi was eventually bowled out for a mere 140, their lowest total this season.

While RCB still have an outside chance of making it to the playoffs on back of 5 consecutive wins, DC are now also sailing in the same boat. Both teams have 12 points from 13 games each.
