12 long years that the Kolkata Knight Riders hadn't tasted a single victory at the Wankhede Stadium but KKR finally broke that hoodoo on Friday as they thrashed MI by 24 runs.

Hardik Pandya's decision to bowl first was the right call and the bowlers responded well. KKR's top order fell like a pack of cards as they were reduced to 57/5.

Kolkata brought in Manish Pandey as the impact player and he proved to be a willing ally to Venkatesh Iyer. The pair rescued KKR from a muddle and helped their side finish at 169 with an 83-run stand. Iyer top-scored with a gritty 70.

Mumbai had a disastrous start to their run-chase as Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy spun their web of destruction and rocked the hosts with 2 wickets each.

Suryakumar Yadav tried to steady the ship with a fiery 56 but Andre Russell brought KKR back into the contest with a couple of wickets.

But the most pleasing performance for KKR came from Mitchell Starc, who finally struck form and picked up 4 wickets. As a result, Mumbai was bowled out for just 145 as their IPL 2024 campaign is now all but over.

While MI have now lost 4 in a row, KKR are knocking on the playoffs door with 14 points from 10 games.
