Mumbai Indians snapped their eight-match losing streak as they defeated Rajasthan Royals by 5 wickets at DY Patil Stadium on Saturday night.
Chasing a 159-run target, Rohit Sharma failed to score big runs on his birthday but Ishan Kishan steered Mumbai's innings with some lusty hits. After Kishan's dismissal, Suryakumar and Tilak Verma stitched an 81-run stand. It seemed Mumbai would falter again after Surya and Tilak were dismissed. But Mumbai's lower order comprising of Tim David, Kieron Pollard, and Daniel Sams ensured five-time champions crossed the line with 4 balls to spare
Earlier, Rajasthan Royals were off to a sluggish start and managed to score only 40 runs in the powerplay despite having Jos Buttler at one end. Buttler wasn't in his element for the most part of the innings before he blasted the rookie off-spinner Hrithik Shokeen for four sixes in an over. The Englishman finally got out off the last delivery in the same over at the score of 67 runs off 52 deliveries. Ashwin's 21-run cameo at the end helped Rajasthan post 158-6.
