With unpleasant weather conditions prevailing in Kolkata where the Qualifier 1 and Eliminator of IPL 2022 will take place, BCCI has issued new rules for this season's playoffs.
As per the new rules, if heavy rain plays villain during any of the playoff games, a 5-over-a-side game would be played, if that is not feasible, a super over would determine the winner of the game. In unforeseen circumstances, if holding the super-overs also becomes difficult then the winner of the particular match will be decided on the basis of their league stage performances. These regulations will remain the same for the finals as well. However, a reserve day has been allocated if the finals are disrupted due to weather issues.

These new rules would mean, the better team will move ahead without having to play the particular match. For the first Qualifier and Eliminator that will be played between Gujarat and Rajasthan and Lucknow Super Giants and Royal Challengers Bangalore respectively, the better team will win without any contest if weather conditions do not allow the match to proceed.
This puts Royal Challengers Bangalore in a difficult situation as the team has qualified in the 4th spot in IPL. Hence, Faf du Plessis' side faces the fear of getting knocked out without any fair chance. Rajasthan Royals, however, will still get a chance in Qualifier 2, which will be held in Ahmedabad.
