In a low scoring-match, Jamaican power-hitter Andre Russell scored an unbeaten 70 off 31 balls against Punjab Kings to help Kolkata Knight Riders to register their second win in the IPL 2022. At one point, KKR were 51 for 4 before the Russell storm came. Andre hit 8 massive sixes and 2 fours in his innings.

In a chat with the host broadcaster after the match, Russell said, "Feeling awesome, this is the reason why we play the game. In that position, I know what I can do."

Russell told that Sam Billings and he decided to wait for a few overs before taking charge from one end and look to get singles from the other end. Andre felt good to have Sam Billings on the crease as he was rotating the strike very well. Andre started to attack earlier as he thought the left-arm orthodox wasn't spinning the ball.

Russell further said, "Chahar was bowling extremely well, it was gripping as well."

Kolkata Knight Riders won the match by 6 wickets with 5.3 overs to spare and are currently on top of the points table.
