After a brilliant 2022 season, it was a happy homecoming for the Lucknow Super Giants, as they started their 2nd IPL season with a 50-run win against the Delhi Capitals at the Ekana Sports City Stadium on Saturday.

It proved to be the night of the Debutants for LSG. While Kyle Mayers did it with the bat, Mark Wood bamboozled Delhi with the ball.

Put into bat, Lucknow lost skipper KL Rahul early but it was a fiery 73-run knock by Kyle Mayers that gave Lucknow a perfect start.

Nicholas Pooran's 36 and a great finish by Ayush Badoni helped LSG end at 193/6.

Chasing which, Delhi started well in the powerplay but wickets at regular intervals saw them lose half their side with just 94 runs within 14 overs.

Skipper David Warner top scored with 56 runs which eventually went in vain as debutant Mark Wood ran riot with his maiden IPL 5-wicket-haul, restricting Delhi to 143/9 in the end.
