Team India clinched the 3-match T20I series against New Zealand 1-0 as the 3rd match ended in a tie due to rain. India had won the second T20I by 65 runs which eventually decided the fate of the series as well.
Opting to bat first, New Zealand were rocked early as Arshdeep Singh got rid of Finn Allen in the second over itself. The BlackCaps were 130/2 with Conway and Phillips going strong but as soon as the 86-run stand was broken it was a procession. New Zealand, then, lost 8 wickets for just 30 runs and finally got bundled out for 160. For India, Mohammed Siraj and Arshdeep Singh picked 4 wickets each.
Chasing a modest 160 run-target, India lost their first 3 wickets within 3 overs as openers Ishan Kishan and Rishabh Pant were dismissed on a collective total of just 21 runs.
Hardik Pandya top-scored for the Men in Blue with an unbeaten 30 after which the match was interrupted by rain.
With India on 75 runs at that point, the revised target according to the DLS method turned out to be 76 which meant that the match ended as a tie and the Men in Blue fell just 1 run short of a 2nd victory in the 3-match series.
