He didn't get an opportunity to play the first 2 Tests of the series vs Australia but Shubman Gill proved his worth at the top with a fluent hundred in the 4th Test in Ahmedabad.

It was his 2nd Test ton and first in India and came at the time when the hosts needed it the most.

In reply to Australia's 480 in the 1st innings, Gill first put together a 74-run stand with Rohit Sharma and then stitched a gritty 113-run partnership with Cheteshwar Pujara.

Interestingly, it was Gill's 7th hundred in international cricket. Among Indians, only Sachin Tendulkar and Virat Kohli had more Centuries than Shubman Gill at the age of 23.

He was eventually dismissed for 128, his highest score in Test cricket.
