Glenn Maxwell was the highlight of a stunning evening in Delhi as Australia beat the Netherlands blue-black, setting a mammoth 400-run target in Cricket World Cup 2023.

Maxwell stole the limelight from David Warner who had smashed his 2nd century in the ongoing tournament in India.

After Warner's 104 off 93, 35-year-old Maxwell collected the fastest ton ever in World Cup history in just 40 balls, helping Australia add 87 runs in the last five overs. Maxwell hit 9 fours and 8 sixes during his swashbuckling knock.

The star all-rounder who looked out of touch so far in the event, accumulating scores of just 25, 17, 21 and 1 before the Netherlands game, broke Aiden Markram's record of the fastest hundred. The South African had hit a 49-ball 100 earlier in the tournament against Sri Lanka.

For Australia, Warner and Maxwell smashed tons, Steve Smith also found form with a 71 off 68. Logan van Beek was the pick of the bowlers for the Netherlands with a 4-wicket haul.
