Covid-19 has hit the English Premier League yet again, at least 103 new positive cases among the club players and the staff members have been reported in the past week, EPL announced on Monday.

A total of 15,186 Covid tests were done from 20th to 26th December out of which 103 turned positive, the league said. This is the highest number of cases since they started issuing the regular testing figures in May.

The league further announced that new emergency measures are being implemented after as many as 15 matches were postponed due to the Coronavirus scare.

The Premier League's covid-19 emergency measures include protocols such as wearing face coverings while indoors, maintaining social distancing, limiting treatment time and increased testing, league said.

All English clubs have increased testing to daily lateral flow which was previously being done twice a week. The staff and players will also undergo PCR testing twice a week.
