A late goal from Aston Villa debutant Philippe Coutinho helped Steven Gerrard's side play out a 2-2 draw against Manchester United in a high-octane Premier League encounter on Saturday night.

On a dramatic night, the Ronaldo-less United took an early lead in the 6th minute as Bruno Fernandes put the Ralf Rangnick's side 1-0 ahead.

Aston Villa returned in the second half with a much-improved performance but they failed to stop Fernandes from scoring his second and providing the Red Devils 2-0 lead in the 67th minute.

However, the late drama was triggered by Villa debutant Coutinho who came off the bench and assisted Jacob Ramsey to reduce the deficit by one goal in the 77th minute.

Then, Coutinho sent the home fans to great ecstasy when he scored the equaliser in the 82nd minute.

After the draw, Manchester United remained in seventh place with 32 points in 20 matches while Villa moved to the 13th spot with 23 points.
