Iranian footballer sentenced to death for supporting women's rights: Reports

In shocking news, Iranian authorities have sentenced footballer Amir Nasr-Azadani to death for supporting women's rights in the country. 

According to media reports, Nasr-Azadani has been campaigning for women's rights in the country and as a punishment, he is facing execution.

The news came just weeks after the Iranian national anthem was booed by fans at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar and subsequently, the players chose not to sing the national anthem for their first game. 

FIFPro, a global union for professional football players, denounced the distressing news and criticised the Iranian government for passing such an order for 26-year-old Nasr-Azadani.
