FIFA World Cup 2022: Neymar, Danilo ruled out of Brazil's group stage matches

Hot favourites Brazil suffered a severe injury blow to their FIFA World Cup 2022 campaign in Qatar. Brazilian duo Neymar and Danilo who had sustained ankle injuries during their group game opener against Serbia have now been ruled out of the group stage of the quadrennial event. 

Informing about their injury Team doctor Rodrigo Lasmar said, 'Neymar and Danilo went through a MRI and we found ligament damage in the ankle of both of them' He further added that both the players will miss the next game and are expected to return in the knockout stage of the World Cup. 

The heartbroken PSG striker who was seen in discomfort on the Selecao bench in Brazil's 2-0 win over Serbia, wrote on his Instagram page, 'Today has become one of the hardest moments in my career... and again in a world cup, I have an injury yes, it's boring, it's going to hurt but I'm sure I'll have the chance to come back because I will do my best to help my country, my teammates and myself' 

The 30-year-old's campaign at the 2014 World Cup also ended with a back injury in the quarterfinals against Colombia. He was taken off the field on a stretcher, and Brazil ended up losing to Germany 7-1 in the semifinals.
