Australia joins defending champions France in the last 16 of the FIFA World Cup 2022 after a 1-0 win against Denmark while Tunisia bows out of the tournament despite a historic 1-0 win against a reshuffled France in their Group D encounter.

The Socceroos qualified for the knockout stages of the World Cup after 2006 courtesy of a brilliant 60th-minute Mathew Leckie winner to knock the Danish side out of the tournament.

The other Group D encounter saw another upset in the tournament as the 2018 World Cup winners France fell to a surprising 1-0 defeat to Tunisia.

Antoine Griezmann did manage to equalise in the last minute of the game but the goal was eventually ruled out for offside through VAR.

Didier Deschamps made 9 changes for the 3rd game after the side had qualified for the last 16 with 2 wins earlier. However, the changed lineup failed to make an impression on their manager as a 58th-minute Wahib Khazri goal ended Les Bleus 8-game unbeaten streak in the FIFA World Cup.
