WPL 2023: UP Warriorz name Australia wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy as captain

Women's Premier League franchise UP Warriorz have named star Australia wicketkeeper-batter Alyssa Healy as their captain for the inaugural edition.

One of the most explosive batters in women's cricket, Healy, is an Australian veteran who has played 139 T20Is. The 32-year-old has scored close to 2,500 runs in the T20Is, with one century and 14 fifties to her name.

After her appointment, Healy said she is delighted with the opportunity and is keenly waiting for the tournament to start.

The WPL 2023 season will be played from March 4-26 in Mumbai, and the Warriorz will begin their campaign against the Gujarat Giants on March 5.
