In an incredible effort, Afghanistani colts have defended a paltry 134 runs against Sri Lanka in the quarterfinal of ICC Under-19 World Cup to book a semifinal berth.
In one of the mst dramatic games in the Under 19 World Cup, Sri Lanka bundled out Afghanistan for a mere 134 runs as right-arm slinger Vinuja Ranpul took 5 wickets for just 10 runs
With the hope of making an easy chase, Sri Lanka came out to bat but Afghans showed a spirited bowling display and reduced the Lankans to 43-7 after 17 overs.
Then came a brilliant fightback from captain Dunith Wellalage and Raveen de Silva. who put up a 69-run stand but the former got dismissed in a search of boundary and Afghanistan bowled out Sri Lanka when they needed five runs from 25 balls, thus winning the match by 4 runs.
