A day after beating India by nine wickets in Indore, Australia coach Andrew McDonald refused to make a direct comment on the nature of the pitch that was used but said "conditions were extreme in all the three Test matches" of the Border Gavaskar Trophy series.

The International Cricket Council (ICC) rated the Indore pitch as "poor".

McDonald said his team does not know what sort of a pitch awaits Australia in the final Test match at Ahmedabad but believes the win in Indore has clearly added some pressure in the Indian change room. India need to win the final Test to book their spot in the World Test Championship final.
