West Indies cricketer Shimron Hetmyer has been replaced in the T20 World Cup squad after he missed his rescheduled flight to Australia.

The board has named Shamarh Brooks as his replacement for the marquee event that will begin on October 16th.

The decision comes after Hetmyer, who was to originally fly to Australia on October 1st, requested for rescheduling of the flight due to 'personal reasons'.

As per the statement by the board, Hetmyer later, informed CWI that 'he would not be able to get to the airport in time' for his rearranged flight as well.

The 25-year-old had been earlier informed that any further delay would cost him his World Cup spot.

Meanwhile, Brooks is set to fly to Australia later this week.

He will directly join the Nicholas Pooran-led side in Melbourne where they will begin their campaign in the qualifying round.
