SA20 Auction: IPL franchises spend big bucks as Tristan Stubbs bags the highest bid in maiden auction

SA20 Auction : If an IPL franchise wants to rope a cricketer into their squad, they are known to go all out at the auction may it be IPL or SA20.

With all 6 teams in South Africa's domestic tournament bought by IPL franchises, experts were expecting them to massively loosen their purse and they did.

Tristan Stubbs was the most expensive buy in the first ever SA20 auction, with Sunrisers Eastern Cape shelling out R 9.2 million for the 22-year-old.

Veteran batter Rilee Roussow emerged as the second-most expensive player with Pretoria Capitals, owned by IPL team Delhi Capitals, buying him for R6.9 million. 

South Africa’s Test captain Dean Elgar and T20I skipper Temba Bavuma went unsold in the auction.

The tournament is scheduled to be played from January to February 2023.
