In the light of recent criticism of Joe Root's captaincy in the Ashes Series, Australian legend Ricky Ponting feels that Ben Stokes is the only player who can take England's captaincy job and turn the fortunes of the Three Lions.
In a chat with the Cricket Australia website, Ponting said that he believes with a bit of extra responsibility, Stokes might become an even better player and that might have a good impact on the rest of the team.
Notably, Root has faced stern criticism from former England cricketers after England failed to secure the Ashes Urn and literally surrendered in the Boxing Day Test at Melbourne Cricket Ground.
