Ratnakar Shetty former Team India manager in his book On Board: Test Trial Triumph has written about the issues between ex-coach Anil-Kumble and the then skipper Virat Kohli.

The Chemistry professor who ended up in the BCCI top ranks years later in his career has revealed about Kohli-Kumle's fall-out that led to the later's sudden resignation as the head coach of the team in 2017.

Recalling the incident, Shetty revealed that Kumble until May wasn't aware that BCCI was already preparing for his replacement. Pointing out that some people did not want Kumble to continue, Shetty said that while the captain and coach were not on the same wavelength, the captain seemed to have an upper hand. After India's loss to Pakistan in the Champions Trophy final earlier that year, Virat wasn't happy with Kumble.

As per his book, the ex-skipper was not happy with Kumble for not standing up for the players and creating a tense atmosphere in the dressing room.
