Veteran Test cricketer Wriddhiman Saha has expressed his unwillingness to play for Bengal in the Ranji Trophy, Cricket Association of Bengal President Avishek Dalmiya said.
After a great outing in IPL 2022, Saha had been included in the Ranji squad for the upcoming Ranji knockouts. This reportedly annoyed him as the decision was not taken with his consultation. Following this, the 37-year-old allegedly exited the team's WhatsApp group and informed about his decision to not participate in Ranji Trophy.
Dalmiya said that the management tried its best to convince him. However, Saha has made up his mind to not play for Bengal again, he added. While the wicket-keeper batter is yet to ask for the no-objection certificate from the state association, the CAB president said that it will be given to him, whenever he asks for it. This might turn out to be the end of Saha's Ranji Trophy career. Saha who made his debut in 2007 has played 122 first-class and 102 List A matches.
