Lavishing praise on Ishan Kishan, Gautam Gambhir said that he would persist with the young batter even if Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul return to the Indian squad.

The 23-year-old who is opening for Team India in the ongoing 5-match T20I series against South Africa has given impressive performances in the 2 T20Is that India lost. Kishan in the series opener hit a 48-ball-76 and in the 2nd T20I scored 21-ball-34 against South Africa.

Though he will likely not be the first-choice opener when Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul return, the former Indian cricketer said he would still want to stick with Kishan for Australia where the World T20 is set to take place later this year

Branding his game as fearless, Gambhir said that whether he brings runs or not, he brings in the fearless approach. I think they should persist with him for this T20 WC, if he is in the scheme of things they play him till the World Cup, Gambhir added.
