The new era for Indian women's cricket under Harmanpreet Kaur started in the best way possible as the Women in Blue completed a 3-0 white-wash against Sri Lanka in the ODI series. Earlier, India had won the three-match T20I series 2-1.
One of the big positives for India during the Sri Lanka tour was captain Harmanpreet Kaur getting her form back. This was India's first series after former captain Mithali Raj announced her retirement from international cricket.
Such was Kaur's performance during the tour that she was adjudged Player of the series in both the T20I and ODI series. She accumulated 119 runs and took 2 wickets in the three-match ODI series that concluded on Thursday.
Meanwhile, India's star openers Smriti Mandhana and Shafali Verma also got their mojo back with the bat, having scored unbeaten fifties in the second ODI. The duo had some average performances at the start of the tour.
The Indian women's team will now travel to Birmingham for the Commonwealth Games, where they'll start their campaign against Australia on July 29.
