Mohammed Shami on Monday took to social media to inform that he had underwent a successful heel operation and also gave an update about his return.

“Just had a successful heel operation on my Achilles tendon! Recovery is going to take some time, but looking forward to getting back on my feet,” Shami wrote.

According to reports, Shami had to undergo surgery in the United Kingdom which ruled him out of upcoming IPL 2024.

The pacer has been out of action shince India's ODI World Cup final loss to Australia on November 19. Since then, he has missed the T20I series against Australia at home, the tour of South Africa and the home Test series against England.

Earlier in January, Shami said that he was hoping to recover for the series against England, but the rub of the green did not go his way.

"My rehabilitation is well on track and the medical experts at NCA are happy with my progress," Shami had told the Times of India.
