India's ace speedster Mohammed Shami, who has been sidelined due to a heel injury, hopes to return to the national side in time for the Tests against England.

Shami was quoted by Times of India as saying, 'My rehabilitation is well on track, and the medical experts at NCA are happy with my progress. There is a slight stiffness in my ankle, but that's fine.'

He revealed that he has begun his training and believes he will make a comeback during the England series.

The 33-year-old has not played cricket since the conclusion of the Cricket World Cup in November 2023 owing to his chronic heel injury.

India play England in a 5-match Test series starting January 25.
