According to reports in India Today, Sourav Ganguly was upset with the way Virat Kohli conducted the press conference before the South Africa tour where the former captain indirectly accused Dada and selectors of lying. Ganguly in fact wanted to serve the captain a show-cause notice for the fiery press conference but was held back and convinced by board secretary Jay Shah.

According to the report, Jay Shah convinced Ganguly to not act in rebuttal as it would negatively impact the team before the high-profile tour of South Africa. But as things went on, Virat in a shocking move stepped down as Team India's Test captain as well completely ending his reign as the leader of the side.
